When chatting
and corresponding about FD racing I have heard complaints out there
that there aren't enough FD setups available, so here is my answer:
First of all,
the most important part of the car in terms of setups is the chassis.
It follows that since an FD car has a GP chassis, a GP setup will
be a good starting point in terms of chassis.
Second, as the
FD car is powered by an F2 engine, all one needs to do is to change
the gearing in the GP setup to that of an F2 car.
This of course
is not an ideal solution, but I have found that it is a very good
starting point for when you can't find a pre-made FD setup to suit
your driving style. One thing to watch out for when using
F2 gear ratios is that as FD cars have better grip, cornering speed
is generally higher than F2 cars'. This means that you can
afford to tweak the gearing to provide you a slightly higher top
speed.
